NW PACIFIC -Special NOAA Viz Lab Image: Typhoon Neoguri on Track to Strike Kyushu, Japan
Typhoon Neoguri is forecast to continue north until a mid-latitude trough turns the storm sharply to the east. Despite weakening during the next day or so as the storm encounters cooler sea surface temperatures, Neoguri is expected to make landfall across Kyushu, Japan as a minimal typhoon or possible strong tropical storm, bringing with it storm surge and life-threatening possibilities for flooding and mudslides. This image was taken by the Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument around 0440Z on July 8, 2014. Website: http://www.nnvl.noaa.gov/MediaDetail2.php?MediaID=1587&MediaTypeID=1
